Ruby Red Depression Glass

Depression glass, by definition was pieces of glassware that was distributed for free during the great depression in America. These were usually distributed by companies and businesses either by putting it in with their product, or handing them to people who entered their business establishment. Some companies even made whole dinner sets and gave them out for free. Depression glass was even made in different colors, to appeal more to the people. Colors like green, blue, and red were not that uncommon back then. And due to their low production cost and easy production method, they were made well beyond the great depression and were even produced after World War II. But after their production of the Depression glass declined, the glassware made from them became scarce, and thus were regarded as highly collectible pieces of art. During the 1960s and onward, the Depression glass were made into highly collectible pieces despite the fact that they were of low quality, but the rarity of them made them all the more valuable. And since their reputation rocketed into the collectible scene, companies have started producing them again, with popular and the more pricey patterns getting produced and reproduced even more. These have been sought by many collectors and are highly regarded as pieces of art. But one color has been of particular value among collectors. A shade of red, namely ruby red has caught the attention of manufacturers and collectors alike. This shade of red has an appeal that is unlike any other color in the available shades the Depression glass comes in.
